Over 3.15 lakh people fined in Delhi since April for Covid violations
Most fines for not wearing face-masks
New Delhi, Nov. 9 (Delhi Crown): The Delhi Police on Tuesday revealed that between April 19 and November 8 this year, over 3,15,000 people in the capital were fined for violating Covid-related norms.
In the data shared with the general public, police said a total of 315,772 challans were issued against these violations during this nearly seven-month period.
Of the 315,772 challans issued, 279,198 challans were issued against people for not wearing masks, 30,379 for not adhering to social distancing norms, 3,046 for consumption of liquor, pan and tobacco in public places, 1,685 for spitting in public and 1,464 for holding large public gatherings and congregations.
The challan data relates primarily to the period when a lockdown was imposed in Delhi from April to the end of May during the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
