Violators asked to pay fine of Rs 16 lakhs for each violation

New Delhi, Nov. 9 (Delhi Crown): The North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) has stopped construction and demolition activity at 54 private sites for allegedly violating green norms prescribed by the National Green Tribunal (NGT).

NDMC officials said violators have been asked to pay a fine of Rs.16 lakh each for their violations.

Corporation officials further informed that they have deployed around 90 tankers to sprinkle water in areas where dust pollution is at a very high level. Meanwhile, Delhi’s air quality on Tuesday was in the “very poor” category as per data provided by SAFAR. The air quality index (AQI) stood at between 370 and 410 this morning.

It was, however an improvement from the condition on Monday morning, when it stood at 432.
