New Delhi, Feb. 25 (Delhi Crown): A dreaded criminal in South-West Delhi’s Dwarka area was held by the local police after a brief shootout near the Tajpur village, confirmed the Dwarka District Police on Friday.

Identified as Gaurav Tiwari alias Kallu (25), a resident of Qutub Vihar, Phase-2, Goyla Dairy, he is a Bad Character (BC) listed at the Chhawla Police Station.

He was previously involved in as many as 18 cases of attempt to murder, robberies, snatchings and thefts, said the Dwarka District Police.

Based on a tip-off, the Dwarka District Police cops had laid a trap to nab him near the Tajpur village.

On seeing the cops, Gaurav allegedly shot at them. The cops fired two shots in return. One of the bullets hit Gaurav in his left leg, and soon he was overpowered.

He was given necessary medical treatment at a local hospital, and later during interrogation he revealed that he was on the lookout to carry out a big robbery and get huge amount of money in order to lead a lavish life.

The Delhi Police cops who nabbed the criminal included Inspector Kamlesh Kumar, Sub-Inspector Vikash Yadav, ASI Ashok, Head Constables Jitender Himmat, Praveen, Moti Lal, Mahender, Himank. The police team was headed by Chhawla SHO Pankaj Kumar.

One stolen Scooty, one sophisticated pistol, one live cartridge, two used cartridges of 32.bore, three android mobile phones, were recovered from his possession.
