13 persons die in road accident in Uttarakhand’s Champawat area

New Delhi, Feb. 22 (Delhi Crown): Around 13 persons died, including some women, and two were seriously injured in a horrific road accident in Uttarakhand’s Champawat area, when the SUV they were travelling in fell into a 250-feet deep gorge early on Tuesday morning.
The victims were returning from a wedding when their vehicle met with the accident.
Speaking to THE DELHI CROWN over phone Champawat Superintendent of Police (SP) Devinder Singh said – “We have so far recovered 11 dead bodies and rescued two injured persons. There are at least two more dead bodies visible in the gorge…..we are trying to bring them out. The injured persons were able to speak, it means they are out of danger,” added the SP over phone.
The mishap occurred near Dheka Doonga village under the jurisdiction of Reetha Police Station.
The victims belonged to Champawat area, and were returning from a wedding when the mishap occurred. “The rescue work is still on. While 11 dead bodies have been recovered, two injured persons are in a serious condition and they have been sent to a local hospital,” added the cop over phone. ZhaoXu/Enditem
