New Delhi, Nov. 9 (Delhi Crown): With the arrest of two persons, identified as Rahul and Mohit, the Delhi Police claimed to have to solved several cases of robbery, theft and phone snatching in and around Dwarka, in South-West Delhi.

According to DCP Dwarka Shankar Choudhary, the duo was arrested after surveillance by the team of Special Staff and the local police, following a mobile phone robbery from a lady walking on the road in morning hours a few days ago.

“Though it was ascertained that the mobile was used with change of SIM card, no headway could be made as address was found to be fake. The unrelenting technical and manual surveillance yielded the fruits and an information was received that two criminals involved in the said robbery are again in Dwarka for committing another robbery,” said the DCP.

Acting on the information, the two men on a motorcycle were trapped near Radha Swami Satsang at about 08:00 AM on Sunday (Nov 7).

According to DCP Choudhary, when asked to stop for checking they tried to flee but their bike skidded and fell.

While escaping on foot, they fired upon police team with an intention to kill police team members.

Police team also retaliated in self-defence and fired with service weapons even as accused Rahul got bullet injury in his left knee and accused Mohit got bullet injury in his right knee and could be overpowered only thereafter.

One sophisticated pistol, one sophisticated country made pistol and four live rounds were recovered from their possession.

Both were apprehended and sent to hospital for treatment after brief interrogation wherein they confessed their involvement in the robbery.
