Woman held in Delhi for kidnapping toddler for money to marry off daughter
New Delhi, April 5 (Delhi Crown): Two women have been arrested for allegedly kidnapping a two-year-old boy from a South-West Delhi area for ransom, as one of the accused was in the need of money to marry off her daughter.
According to the Delhi Police, the incident happened in the Munirka area of South-West Delhi, along the Outer Ring Road.
The duo’s male accomplice is still at large, and the local police is trying to nab him too.
The kidnapped child was rescued after long hours of operation, and was handed over to the family.
The alleged kingpin of the crime, identified as Babli, told the police that she kidnapped the child as she was in a dire need of money to marry her daughter. “Babli, along with her associates, Deepak and Nikki, hatched a conspiracy to kidnap the child and sell the child for money,” police added.
On April 2, the trio met in Gurugram and reached Munrika as per their plans. While Babli and Deepak remained seated in the car, Nikki went to her neighbour’s house to steal the child.
After a police complaint was made, Sub-Inspector Mayank Yadav reached the crime scene and the area was searched thoroughly. The child was rescued from Nikki’s house.
Subsequently, a case was registered at the Kishangarh Police Station, and the child was handed over to his parents after medical examination. Nikki told the police that she stole the child on the directions of Babli.
Later on, police constituted a team to arrest the accused and raided Nikki’s house where Babli too was arrested. Further investigation revealed that the two women were also involved in prostitution.
