Most African nationals involved in illegal drugs trade: DCP

New Delhi, Dec. 9 (Delhi Crown): The Uttam Nagar Police have nabbed and deported three Nigerian nationals after they were found to be staying illegally without valid Visas and passports, said Dwarka DCP Shankar Choudhary on Thursday (Dec. 9).

According to the DCP, the three foreign nationals were identified as Ifeanyi Martins Obodo (24) Jude Okwudili Kanu (46) and Frank Herve Kouame (38).

“They were found overstaying in India without valid Visa. They were produced

before the FRRO who ordered for their deportation following which they have been sent to a Detention Centre.”

In a statement, DCP Choudhary said that the growing number of African nationals are looking for money-earning opportunities in the national capital/Delhi. “Uttam Nagar Police Station has a mixed population of approximately 3.75 Lakh. A lot of African Nationals are residing in the area and some of the African nationals are residing with Fake/Expired Visa,” he added.

The top cop further said that there are also cases under the NDPS Act registered against them for supplying drugs to the locals. Besides, a few cases of Cyber Frauds have also surfaced in which African nationals are involved, added DCP Choudhary.

A few days ago Lok Sabha MP Parvesh Verma had stated in the Parliament that over 300 foreigners had been deported from his constituency in the past coupe of months.
