Two women snatchers nabbed from Perna Basti of Rewla Khanpur
Had snatched a purse from a delivery boy in broad daylight
New Delhi, Jan. 22 (Delhi Crown): Two women were arrested by police from Perna Basti at Rewla Khanpur on Jhatikra Road, on Friday for allegedly snatching a purse from a man in Dwarka Sector 13.
Identified as Reena (30) and Neetu (40), the duo committed the snatching in broad daylight, at around 10:30 a.m.
The Perna Basti area has been infamous for prostitution and illegal activities like selling spurious liquor, etc. Women living here have been found involved in various kinds of illegal activities in the past.
One Mohd. Shafiq, a delivery boy, had complained to the police that on Jan. 19 while he was passing through Sector 13, Dwarka, he was overpowered by a total of three women. While two forcefully held him, the third snatched his purse containing Rs 1000 and fled from the spot.
With the help of secret informers, the police gathered the accused ladies lived in Perna Basti. A police team, comprising of male and female personnel, raided the area along with the complainant where he identified the two ladies.
On interrogation, the two ladies admitted to committed the snatching. Rs 1000 were recovered from their possession, following which they were arrested.
Search is on for the third accused, the police said.
