Two assailants nabbed in Delhi 2.5 hours after Najafgarh firing incident
First firing case after Harsha Vardhan took over as DCP
New Delhi, Aug. 2 (Delhi Crown): The Dwarka Police nabbed two of the five assailants who fired at a jewellery shop-owner’s brother in Najafgarh on Tuesday, within two-and-a-half hours of the incident.
The incident happened when the jewellery shop-owner was away, and the assailants fled away with around Rs 25,000 after firing a bullet at the shop-owner’s brother.
Two of the five assailants were caught in CCTVs, running with firearms in their hands.
“The PCR call was received at 12:07 hours and within two-and-a-half hours we nabbed the two assailants from near Old Shiv Mandir. The two accused nabbed are said to be aged between 17 and 18 years. We are ascertaining their actual age. All the five assailants belong to Jhajjar district of Haryana and had used a bike stolen from Bahadurgarh recently,” said Dwarka DCP Harsha Vardhan while briefing media persons about the firing incident and the police action thereon.
The DCP said that the shop owner’s brother Rajesh (46) received a gun shot in his right jaw.
“The jeweller denied having received any threats in the past. The assailants had carried out a recce of the targeted shop at around 10:00 a.m., before finally attacking the jeweller with the objective of loot,” he added.
This was perhaps the first sensational firing incident in Dwarka Police district after DCP Harsha Vardhan assumed the charge of the district less than two months ago.
