Supreme Court AoRs receive threat over PIL regarding PM security breach

Threat calls received from a phone registered in U.K.

New Delhi, Jan. 10 (Delhi Crown): Several Advocates on Record (AoRs) at the Supreme Court received threat calls on their mobile phones on Monday from a number registered in the U.K., threatening the AoRs and judges of the apex court to refrain from hearing the PIL seeking probe into the PM’s security breach incident in Punjab on Jan. 5

In a complaint made to the Secretary General of the apex court, the AoRs said that in the threat calls it was claimed that the “Sikhs for Justice” (SFJ) was behind blocking the PM’s cavalcade at Hussainiwal flyover in Punjab on Jan. 5.

The sender of the pre-recorded automated calls threatened that the apex court should refrain from hearing the PIL filed by the NGO “Lawyers Voice” on the ground that the Supreme Court had not been able to punish the culprits of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

In the complaint the AoRs requested the Secretary General that an immediate action must be initiated as it was a violation of privacy of the AoRs as their registered mobile numbers were out in public domain and have been compromised as all confidential data and sensitive information pertaining to cases before the apex court and banking details were stored in their respective mobile phones.

“The miscreants may misuse the sensitive data if the mobile phones are hacked,” said the letter by the Supreme Court Advocates-on-Record Association (SCAORA). A copy of the said complaint letter was sent to Delhi Police Commissioner too.

Earlier in the day, the apex court had decided to set up a panel headed by a former SC judge to probe into the PM security breach incident.
