SC allows counselling for NEET-PG, NEET-UG admissions

27% quota for OBC & 10% for EWS to prevail this year

New Delhi, Jan. 7 (Delhi Crown): The Supreme Court on Friday decided that the counselling for NEET-PG and NEET-UG admissions should begin at the earliest based on the existing OBC/EWS reservation norms across the country.

The counselling process was held up after some medical students had approached the Apex Court over OBC and EWS reservation issues.

The delay in NEET-PG counselling had triggered protests and strike by resident doctors, especially in the national capital. The doctors demanded an early hearing of SC as they were “overloaded” with work amid pandemic for past one-and-a-half years.

Present rules provide 27% reservation for OBC students and 10% reservation for the students belonging to economically weaker sections (EWS).
