Press Club of India lawyer Imran Ali shies away from appearing in court
Had misbehaved with the lady judge in the last hearing
New Delhi, March 2 (Delhi Crown): Press Club of India (PCI) lawyer Imran Ali shied away from facing lady Civil Judge Preeti (she goes by single name) in her court room at Patiala House on Wednesday (March 2), after he had misbehaved with her during the last hearing.
Imran Ali was supposed to appear in a matter related to the “arbitrary” termination of a senior journalist’s membership by the PCI a few years ago. But he failed to make an appearance in the court, despite much wait.
And, neither the three witnesses, namely Neeraj Rajput, Rakesh Negi and Vijay Shankar Chaturvedi, turned up at the court to record their statements and crossed by the Plaintiff’s lawyer Advocate Ravinder Yadav (AoR).
Pankaj Yadav, the victimised senior journalist, had sued the PCI and the case has been pending before the Patiala House Court for around five years.
PCI’s lawyer Imran Ali has been absent quite often from the court hearings on one pretext or the other.
On a recent hearing when Imran Ali once again failed to appear before the court, the lady judge had imposed a fine of Rs 2000 on the PCI.
Infuriated at the cost been imposed by the lady judge on his client (PCI), Imran Ali shouted at the top of his voice during the last hearing on December 21, opposing her act of imposing the fine of Rs 2000.
After the lady judge’s repeated requests to Imran Ali to maintain court decorum fell on deaf ears, she twice asked Ali to “Shut Up”. He, however, continued showing his disrespect to the lady judge.
Today, after Imran Ali shied away from appearing in her court, the lady judge posted the matter for March 16.
