Popular watering-hole raided in Gurugram’s Sector-56

Owner booked for flouting Covid-19 norms at late night party

Gurugram, Jan. 30 (Delhi Crown): The Gurugram Police have booked five persons after carrying out a raid at a water-hole (Ahaata) for flouting Covid-19 norms by allowing late night parties in Sector 56.

The raid was conducted at the “Refill Republic” Ahaata by the police personnel of the Sector-56 Police Station.

As many as 60-70 youngsters, including women, were present at the Ahaata enjoying their late-night alcohol drinks.

Following inputs about the liquor party being organised in the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, a team of the chief minister flying wing led by DSP Inderjeet Yadav raided the spot.

Among those booked included the Ahata owner. Fines were imposed and a detailed enquiry has been ordered to find out how the Ahaata was allowed to run despite strict Covid-19 restrictions imposed in the town.

There is BYOB (Buy Your Own Bottle) concept in Gurugram according to which one can buy an alcohol bottle from a liquor-vend and enjoy drinks by ordering hot snacks at the Ahaata. Such watering holes (Ahaatas) have mushroomed all across Gurugram. Some of them even offer live Ghazals and other suitable ambience, and are an attraction for regular boozers.
