One Indian student killed in Kharkiv shelling, confirms MEA

New Delhi, March 1 (Delhi Crown): An Indian student was killed in shelling in Ukraine’s Kharkiv city, the Ministry of External Affairs confirmed on Tuesday.
“With profound sorrow we confirm that an Indian student lost his life in shelling in Kharkiv this morning. The Ministry is in touch with his family. We convey our deepest condolences to the family,” tweeted MEA spokesman Arindam Bagchi.
He further stated that efforts were being made to bring out Indian nationals from war zones in Ukraine.
According to Bagchi, India’s Foreign Secretary Harsh Shringla was in regular touch with envoys in Russia and Ukraine to evacuate Indians from there.
“Foreign Secretary is calling in Ambassadors of Russia and Ukraine to reiterate our demand for urgent safe passage for Indian nationals who are still in Kharkiv and cities in other conflict zones. Similar action is also being undertaken by our Ambassadors in Russia and Ukraine,” said Bagchi in another tweet.
