AAP also to launch a membership drive ahead of next year’s MCD polls

New Delhi, Nov. 28 (Delhi Crown): Taking a cue from the BJP’s “Panna Pramukh” electioneering campaign, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has launched a “Panna Prabhari” campaign, with the objective of reaching out to each and every voter ahead of forthcoming MCD polls.

The MCD polls are slated to be held in April next year.

Presently, the BJP rules all the three local bodies in Delhi, viz. the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) and the East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC).

The AAP, which has been running the Delhi Government after winning by a thumping majority in 2000 Assembly polls, is expected to give a tough competition to the BJP in the local body polls.

The Congress party, which ruled Delhi for 15 consecutive years, seems to lost the battle even before it began, even as Congressmen seem least interested in participating in the next year’s MCD polls.

According to state minister and senior AAP leader Gopal Rai, the party has already launched the “MCD Badlaav Abhiyaan” under which party workers have been assigned different tasks.

“Every mandal will have an In-Charge who will spearhead the campaign at the booth and panna levels. Each panna (page) will have a list of 50 voters,” said Rai.

Addressing a party meeting virtually on Friday, Rai also said that his party was soon going to launch a massive membership drive.
