Now single mothers in Delhi can get Caste Certificate for their kids
Delhi govt. does away with condition of mandatory father’s Caste Certificate
New Delhi, Jan. 4 (Delhi Crown): A single mother in Delhi received the Scheduled Caste certificate for her child on Tuesday.
Children of single mothers in Delhi faced hurdles in getting a Caste Certificate for themselves, even as the concerned authorities refused on the condition that the father’s Caste Certificate should also be appended with the application.
To do away the condition of the father’s caste certificate, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Karol Bagh Vishesh Ravi had several rounds of meetings with Delhi’s Social Welfare Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam.
After thorough discussions, it was decided that children of single mothers, either divorced and widowed, would get their Caste Certificate only by furnishing the mother’s certificate.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia handed over the first SC Caste Certificate to a single mother on Tuesday.
The official twitter handle of AAP tweeted – “Dy CM Manish Sisodia hands over the first caste certificate issued on the mother’s credentials to a single mother. Children of single mothers can get SC/ST caste certificate based on their mothers SC/ST caste certificate now due to the intervention of Karol Bagh MLA Vishesh Ravi.”
