AAP says BJP Councillors only promoted illegal constructions after taking bribes
New Delhi, April 21 (Delhi Crown): After all the demolition drama that unfolded on the streets of Jahangirpuri in North-West Delhi, a part of North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), over the past two days, Delhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta on Thursday wrote letters to the Mayors of the SDMC and the EDMC directing them to take action against encroachment in their jurisdiction.
In his letters, Gupta also claimed that the encroachments had been done by “anti-social elements who have the support of AAP leaders”.
Delhi BJP chief’s letters assume significance in the aftermath of a similar letter he had written two days ago to the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) directing him to use “bulldozer” to raze illegal structures in Jahangirpuri area, which had witnessed communal clashes on April 16 (Saturday) during a Shobha-Yatra on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti.
Several persons, mostly police personnel, were injured in the clashes which included stone throwing and firing of a few shots.
In a sharp reaction to today’s letters from Gupta to two Mayors, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said in a statement that the BJP had been in power in all the three MCDs for the past 15 years and that BJP Councillors were hands-in-glove in letting these illegal constructions come up in Delhi.
AAP leader and MLA Atishi Marlena slammed the BJP’s “corruption-riddled rule”, saying the BJP Councillors “took bribes” to let illegal constructions come up.
“AAP hopes that the Supreme Court will take strict action against them,” she said and added that the BJP had been in power in MCD for the past 15 years and no one else but them has promoted encroachments all over the state.
Atishi told media persons – “Till the hooliganism of BJP does not come to an end, violence and rioting will continue across the country. Everyone throws out anyone who commits violence and hooliganism from their parties. But the BJP respects and honours such people. The law and order situation of the country is worsening day by day.”
