Gurugram, June 20 (Delhi Crown): The Gurugram Police have arrested a mother-daughter duo for forcing a man to cough up Rs. 50 lakhs in lieu of withdrawing a fake/false rape case filed by the daughter implicating him.

The mother was nabbed red-handed at a restaurant while accepting Rs. 1,10,000 as the first instalment of the demanded money. Her daughter was later arrested from Bhiwani.

While the mother has been identified as Kanchan (40), her daughter is aged 19 (name withheld as the ‘rape case’ is pending before a court). An FIR U/s 384 and 120B has been filed against the duo at the Sector-51 Police Station, Gurugram.

According to the police, the victimised man had approached the Sector-51 Police Station on Sunday alleging that the mother-daughter duo was demanding Rs 50 lakhs from him in lieu of withdrawing the fake/false rape case filed by Prachi against the man.

When the man expressed inability in paying up such a large amount of money, the “deal” was settled at Rs 30 lakhs. It was also finalised that the first instalment of Rs 1,10,000 would be paid by the man to Kanchan at a restaurant in Sector 47/49.

Based on the man’s complaint, a police team was set up and cops in civil clothes were deployed around the restaurant as the man went inside the restaurant to pay up the decided amount. As soon as the man paid the amount to Kanchan, the cops present there nabbed the woman red-handed. The money that exchanged hands too was recovered from her possession.

Later, the duo was produced before a local court for further legal proceedings.
