MCD Polls 2022: Ghummanhera, Chhawla MCD Wards reserved for Women
Najafgarh General Ward, Issapur SC, Dwarka A & B General wards now
New Delhi, Jan. 26 (Delhi Crown): As per the new list of MCD Wards announced after the process of deregistration, the Ghummanhera and Chhawla MCD wards have become reserved for Women.
Earlier, the Ghummanhera Ward was reserved for SC while Chhawla MCD Ward was General.
The Najafgarh MCD Ward which was earlier reserved for Women, has now been declared as a General Ward. Issapur, which was earlier reserved for Women, has now been declared reserved for SC.
Two MCD wards – Dwarka A and Dwarka B, which were earlier represented by Women, have now been declared as General.
The de-registration of MCD wards has changed the political permutations and combinations of many candidates who were anxiously waiting for this move by the State Election Commission.
Reservation and de-reservation of MCD Wards decides the fate of many. In many cases it also decides as to who between the two – husband or wife, would contest the polls.
In case a particular MCD Ward is reserved for Women, the husband fields his wife in a bid to continue his legacy in a particular ward and becomes de-facto MCD Councillor even as his wife remains de-jure Councillor.
