New Delhi, Dec. 12 (Delhi Crown): Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi was a Hindu, but his murderer Nathuram Godse was a Hindutvavadi, said senior Congress leader and MP Rahul Gandhi while addressing a mammoth rally in Jaipur on Sunday.

Addressing the public rally named “Mehengai Hatao Rally”, Rahul said – “This rally is about inflation and unemployment. You all are seeing the condition of the country. You have been at the receiving end of price rise. Leaders are not running the country, but 3-4 capitalists are.”

“I am a Hindu, but I am not a Hindutvavadi. All of you are Hindus. Mahatma Gandhi was a Hindu but Nathuram Godse was a Hindutvavadi,” remarked Rahul in his speech.

Rahul’s mother and Congress President Sonia Gandhi and his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadhra were also present on the occasion.

“Mahatma Gandhi spent his entire life in search of the truth, while Hindutvavadi Godse pumped three bullets into him,” added Rahul Gandhi.

He further stated – “I want to tell you the difference. The path of Hindus is that of truth and they are ready to even die for truth. The Bhagavad Gita asks Hindus to find the truth. On the other hand, Hindutvavadis have nothing to do with the truth and are thirsty for power. They are full of hatred because of their fear.”

During the rally, the Congress leaders paid tribute to late CDS General Bipin Rawat by observing silence. Rawat, his wife and 11 others, had died in a helicopter crash in Tamil Nadu on December 8.
