Liquor to get up to 25% cheaper in Delhi

Private liquor vends allowed once again to offer discounts

New Delhi, April 2 (Delhi Crown): Delhi’s Excise Department has allowed the private liquor vends, opened as per the new Excise Policy, to offer a maximum discount of up to 25% on the MRP.

The order dated April 1 (Friday) said – “Discounts/rebate/concession up to 25% on MRP shall be allowed on the sale of liquor in Delhi with strict compliance of Rule 20 of the Delhi Excise Rules, 2010.”

In February the private liquor vends had offered huge discounts, up to one case of whisky bottles free on the purchase of one case.

However, following complaints of huge crowds emerging at the shops flouting Covid protocols, the Excise Department had disallowed the liquor shops from offering discounts.

Meanwhile, the Delhi unit of the BJP was quick enough to criticise the move, attacking Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for making Delhi a “Sharaab ki Nagri”.
