Bidhuri alleges scam worth Rs thousands of crores in new Excise Policy

New Delhi, Dec. 31 (Delhi Crown): If liquor shops under new Excise Policy are in non-conforming areas, or coming up in clear violation of Master Plan 2021 and don’t comply with Corporation’s rules, or are in close vicinity of a religious place or a school, they will be sealed with immediate effect, said Delhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta.

He said that his party’s protests against Kejriwal government’s new Excise Policy was continuing and all three municipal corporations together have decided to shut down new shops in violation of MCD rules.

All the three MCDs have already started sealing such liquor shops and now the sealing drive has been intensified. “It is because opening of such shops have led to spurt in crime, about which Kejriwal government seems to be least concerned about,” alleged Gupta.

He further claimed that everybody, be it women, elderly, children, is concerned about the new Excise Policy as “liquor shops are now opening next door to their residences”.

It’s rather strange while Kejriwal is advocating prohibition while in Punjab, back home here in Delhi he is hell bent upon making Delhi a “city of alcohol”.

“But BJP is not just going to sit back quietly as we started a mass movement against the policy from Rajghat, then started a signature campaign against this in the entire city and now on January 3, will resort to chakka jam to protest this,” said the Delhi BJP chief.

Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in Delhi assembly Ramvir Singh Bidhuri said that the Kejriwal government had forcibly imposed new Excise Policy on Delhiites despite it being opposed in State Assembly vehemently.

“Even time to serve liquor in Delhi has been raised. Till now it did not used to be served in clubs or bars after 11 p.m. but can now be done till 3 a.m.  Not only this, commission for liquor contractors been raised from 2 per cent to 12 per cent,” alleged Bidhuri.
