New Delhi, Nov. 18 (Delhi Crown): The Delhi Police have arrested a “Baba” (Priest) on-the-run for quite some time, avoiding regular court hearings regarding an Excise Case registered against him for supplying liquor in several areas in Southwest Delhi.

He was declared a Proclaimed Offender (P.O.) by a Dwarka Court after he failed to turn up at regular court hearings.

In the past the ‘Baba’ was arrested twice and prosecuted upon by the Jafarpur Kalan Police for supplying liquor in the area.

Identified as Ajit alias Solanki, the Jafarpur Kalan Police in South West Delhi named him on the night of Nov. 17 from his residence at Dabar Enclave, Ravta Mor, in Southwest Delhi.

A team led by ACP (Chhawla) Manoj Kumar Meena and Jafarpur Kalan SHO Girish Kumar was constituted to track Solanki’s movements and finally arrest him.

Based on a specific information received by Head Constable Manish regarding movement Solanki ‘Baba’ in the area, a raiding party consisting of Head Constable Manish Kumar, Head Constable Manoj Yadav and Constable Ravinder was set up which laid a trap and apprehended the ‘Baba’ wearing saffron robes.

The ‘Baba’ was declared a P.O. in September this year by Metropolitan Magistrate (Dwarka) Surbhi in the case related to FIR No. 76/18 dated May 14, 2018 u/s 33 Delhi Excise Act at Jaffarpur Kalan police station.

According to Jafarpur Kalan SHO, ‘Baba’ Solanki He studied up to class 7th at his native village in Haryana later shifted to Delhi. He started working as bus conductor. Later he got married, but due to his drinking habits his wife left him.

Subsequently, he turned into a Priest, and kept roaming at different places staying in different temples in Delhi/NCR.
