Lady banker nabbed over loan frauds

Total PNB loan frauds might be around Rs 450 crores

New Delhi, Dec. 23 (Delhi Crown): A lady banker who was dismissed from her service in Punjab National Bank (PNB) two months ago, has been arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Police from her residence in Noida Extension, said the local police on Thursday.

Fearing arrest, the lady banker had fled from her Sahibabad house, added the police.

Identified as Priyadarshini Kashyap, the lady banker was dismissed from her service after a departmental enquiry found her involved with a few other PNB employees, including branch manager Ramnath Mishra, in sanctioning multi-crore loans fraudulently.

Mishra was dismissed from service in July.

The loans sanctioned by the PNB employees were used by one Lakshay Tanwar and his associates, thus causing huge losses to the bank.

According to the local police, Kashyap had been named in at least nine forgery cases. He would pose as a property dealer and meet people willing to sell property.

During the course of making a property deal he used to take hold of original property papers from the seller and used them in obtaining loans from PNB in the name of his accomplices in cahoots with PNB officials, including Priyadarshini who was a former manager of PNB’s Link Road branch.

Total loan frauds committed among the accused named so far amount to Rs 450 crores, added media reports.
