New Delhi, Jan. 20 (Delhi Crown): Children aged below 5 years won’t be mandatorily required to wear face-masks amid prevailing Covid conditions, said a fresh guideline issued by the Union Health Ministry on Thursday.

Another guideline said that children aged 6-11 years may wear a face-mask depending on the ability to use the mask safely and appropriately under direct supervision of parents/guardians.

However, children aged above 12 years are expected to wear a face-mask under the same conditions as adults.

Further, for the children with moderate to sever Covid, at the time of discharge from hospital their parents/guardians should be counselled regarding monitoring for persistence/worsening respiratory difficulty and explained the indications for brining the child back to facility.

Another guideline said that children who develop any organ specific dysfunction during hospital stay or subsequently should receive appropriate care.
