Snowfall in Kashmir to continue on Saturday: Met Dept.
New Delhi, Jan. 8 (Delhi Crown): Delhi and its surrounding areas have been receiving incessant rainfall since Friday night, leading to water-logging at several places.
Though Traffic on Delhi roads was comparatively less and most of the shops remained shut as two-day weekend lockdown began in the city amid sudden surge in Covid cases over the past few days.
Heavy rains in Delhi might be a result of weather disturbances in north India, as Kashmir has been receiving heavy snowfall since Friday. Continuous snowfall for over 24 hours in Kashmir led to delay or cancellation of flights from Srinagar Airport.
The Srinagar Airport tweeted – “The continued snowfall has reduced the visibility at our airport. The snowfall is likely to continue till 11 am. All operations shall be delayed. Kindly bear with us.”
Videos and pictures viral in social media showed vehicles and houses under a heavy blanket of white snow in several places in Kashmir.
A series of tweets from the Airport also announced the cancellation of several flights to Delhi and other places. Snowfall is expected to continue till afternoon in Kashmir and nearby places.
