Will replace K.K. Rao who has been shifted to Bhondsi police training centre

Gurugram, Feb. 14 (Delhi Crown): Senior IPS officer of 1994 batch, Kala Ramachandran has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Police (CP) of Gurugram in a late-night administrative order.

Kala will be the first woman IPS officer to head the Gurugram Police. Her husband Navdeep Singh Virk, also an IPS officer of Haryana cadre, too has held the post of Gurugram CP during 2015-16. Virk is now posted in Chandigarh.

She will replace the present incumbent K.K. Rao, who has been shifted to Centre for Police Training and Research (CPT & R) in Bhondsi.

Kala Ramachandran was till now posted as posted as ADGP, State Vigilance Bureau (SVB). She was absorbed back in Haryana cadre in 2020 after a stint in the Intelligence Bureau (IB) on central deputation.

According to an official at the CP office (Gurugram), Kala is soon expected to take over as new captain of the Gurugram Police. In an official order by Haryana government, a total of 15 senior IPS officers, including Kala Ramachandran, were transferred.
