Dwarka DCP had launched “Ghatak” police patrolling to check such colonies

New Delhi, Dec. 23 (Delhi Crown): The Dwarka District Police had on December 6 launched a new police-patrolling named “Ghatak” with much fanfare in a bid to crackdown on illegal colonies coming up particularly in the areas of Chhawla, Baba Haridas Nagar, Najagfgarh and Jaffar Pur.

Illegal colonies have been coming up in several areas in South-West Delhi despite Supreme Court’s strictures passed in this regard on several occasions in the past.

Plotting on agricultural lands by land mafia in these areas has been going on unabated, and this illegal activity often leads to gang wars.

“THE DELHI CROWN” did a survey in the area and found work on illegal colonies still going on. One such illegal colony “Vinay Enclave, Phase 1” is coming up along Najafgarh-Bahadurgarh Road, near village Jharoda.

This illegal colony is being allegedly developed by one Satyendra Dixit of “SS Properties” having his office on the Najafgarh-Bahadurgarh Road.

“We are selling plots here in the range of Rs 15,000 and Rs 21,000 per square yard depending on the size and location of the plots. Opposite to this colony we are also offering shops for sale,” said one of Dixit’s Sales Executives.

In all there are 21 plots of various sizes for sale. Work is going on unabated in the agricultural land even as markings of different plots are being done on the land.

A question to Dwarka DCP Shankar Chaudhary as to how many people were checked or apprehended since the launch of “Ghatak” police patrolling remained unanswered till this newspaper went to press.

All these years the local administration seems to have been turning a blind eye to this burgeoning problem.

“Ghatak Patrolling” under operation “Varchasva” has been started in Dwarka District under the leadership of Dwarka DCP Shankar Choudhary for the area domination to create deterrence against illegal plotting on the agricultural land by builders which is supposed to be the genesis and the economic basis of all the gang wars, especially in the areas falling under Chhawla, Baba Haridas Nagar, Najafgarh, Jaffar Pur Kalan police stations, was done under his personal supervision,” said a statement issued by the Dwarka District Police earlier this month.
