High alert in Punjab after deadly blast inside court kills two
Initial investigations say it was an IED blast
New Delhi, Dec. 23 (Delhi Crown): High alert has been sounded across Punjab after a blast killed two persons and injured four others inside a court premises on Thursday.
The Centre Government has asked for a report from the state government on the deadly blast.
The explosive material was reportedly kept inside a washroom. As a result of the blast, walls of the washroom were damaged and window-glasses shattered.
The blast took place inside a court complex in the state’s Ludhiana district.
According to media reports, there was a lawyers’ strike, and hence only a few people were present in the court complex when the blast took place.
Subsequent to the blast, police have been directed to tighten security at public places. Several official programmes in Ludhiana were cancelled too.
