Haryana Govt. directs MCG to complete Wards delimitation drive soon
Gurugram local body polls likely by year end
New Delhi, Feb.4 (Delhi Crown): The government of Haryana has issued orders to the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) to undertake a complete delimitation drive of all of the district’s 35 wards at the earliest.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, MCG staff confirmed that a door-to-door survey to assess the total population in MCG areas has already begun from last week.
After the survey is completed, it will be forwarded to Chandigarh for the state government to publish it and to invite objections from the public, if any. These modifications will then be carried out, a senior MCG officer informed.
According to Section 6B of the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act, 1994, the delimitation survey and reservation of civic body wards has to be completed at least six months before the completion of the corporation’s tenure.
The areas added to the MCG include sectors 58, 59, 60, 61, 62, 63, 63A, 64, 65, 66, 67A, 70, 70A, 99, 102, 102A, 103, 106, 107, 108, 109, 112, 113, 114, and 115, along with 17 villages.
Of the 35 wards in Gurugram, seven are reserved for women. The city currently has 16 female councillors.
