Used to befriend women through WhatsApp & blackmailed for sexual favours

New Delhi, April 6 (Delhi Crown): A 30-year-old cyber-stalker has been apprehended in Delhi for allegedly approaching women through WhatsApp for “friendship”, and then uploading their morphed pictures on social media if they spurned his sexual advances.

Identified as Sachin Kumar, he is unmarried and a resident of Shahbad Dairy, near Delhi Airport, falling under the jurisdiction of the Dwarka District Police.

According to the police, he is a permanent resident of Jagadhri/Yamuna Nagar, Haryana, and works as a labourer in Delhi.

He was nabbed by the Cyber Police Station of the Dwarka Police District after much technical surveillance by a team working under direct supervision of Dwarka ACP (Operations) Vijay Singh Yadav.

The police team also comprised of lady Sub-Inspector Nikita, Sub-Inspectors Mahender and Sahil, ASI Mukesh and Constable Ravi.

The accused used to search for women’s profiles through various mobile applications for “Friend Search”, and later approached them by sending friend requests.

On being spurned by the women, he used to threaten them by posting their morphed pictures on social media, particularly Instagram. So far, he is said to have victimised as many as 100 such women.

One such woman approached the Dwarka Cyber Police Station with a complaint, following which a police team was constituted to nab the accused.

During the investigation, details of fake Instagram accounts and virtual numbers were obtained and analyzed. IPDR, CDR and CAF of relevant IP Addresses and mobile numbers were obtained and analysed. Search of relevant IMEIs was also obtained and analyzed.

On the basis of technical analysis, the team raided a house in Shahbad Dairy and apprehended the accused.
