Gurugram section of Delhi-Jaipur highway to be spruced up soon
New FOBs, high-mask lights, high-resolution CCTVs to be installed at critical points
Gurugram, Feb. 28 (Delhi Crown): Work for laying the service-lane on both sides of the Delhi-Jaipur national highway from Kherki-Daula Toll Plaza till Kapriwas Border will start soon as the tender has already been allotted to a company, NHAI officials informed Gurugram Commissioner of Police (CP) Kala Ramachandran at a meeting on Monday.
At the meeting, the CP also discussed with NHAI officials the ways that could be adopted for minimising the number of accidents on the NHAI due to lack of proper escalators or Foot Over Bridges (FOBs) at certain points where people tend to cross the national highway in the middle of fast-moving traffic.
Reasons behind frequent long traffic jams on the NH-8 were also discussed among the CP, senior cops of the Gurugram Traffic Police, and the NHAI officials.
It was decided to set up FOBs at Binola and Panchgaon crossings, and to install high-mask lights at certain points such as Manesar, Panchgaon, Bilaspur Chowk.
In a bid to bring down the number of road accidents at the Panchgaon Chowk, a team of experts from Gurugram Traffic Police and NHAI will conduct a spot survey and come up with ideas that could be implemented to avoid such mishaps.
Besides, it was also decided to install high-resolution cameras at certain points in a bid to issue e-traffic-challans for driving at more than permissible speed limits.
