Accused had committed robbery in a DLF-4 house breaching land-lady’s trust

New Delhi, March 26 (Delhi Crown): After more than eight months of intense search, the Gurugram Police have finally succeeded in nabbing a robber who breached the trust of his land-lady and stole valuables from her house in DLF Phase-4 while she was away to Mumbai amid lockdown last year.

One Rachna Sahni, a resident of DLF Phase-4, near Galleria Market, used to run a restaurant “Mumbai Eats” at Sector-56 Market, a popular food hub.

Due to steep fall in sales amid lockdown, she shut her restaurant in April 2021 and left for her another home in Mumbai.

At her restaurant she had a worker named Baijnath Kumar. Since Kumar was homeless and jobless, while leaving for Mumbai Rachna gave her house keys to him in order to help in resolve his accommodation woes.

She kept regular touch with Baijnath Kumar. After some weeks passed by, she grew suspicious about his changing statements and sent her lawyer to cross-check the condition of her house.

To her utter shock, she was told that many valuables, including electronic appliances, were missing from her house. One Washing Machine, one Music System, one Home Theatre, four Commercial Gas Cylinders, some mobile phones, CCTVs, and Rs 10,000 were found to be missing.

When she confronted Baijnath Kumar over phone to know about the missing things from her house, the latter threatened her of dire consequences. Finally, in July 2021 Rachna lodged an FIR with the Sector-29 Police Station.

Since then, the Gurugram Police were on the lookout for Kumar, who had disappeared from Rachna’s house. At last, on March 23 the Gurugram Police succeeded in nabbing him from Ludhiana, Punjab. Baijnath Kumar is said to be 22-year-old and a resident of Bhagalpur, Bihar.
