Gurugram Police arrest man who flashed at female model on Rajeev Chowk
Police took suo-moto notice of social media posts after the victim refused to visit thaana

Gurugram: The man who had flashed at a model at Gurugram’s Rajeev Chowk on August 2 has been identified as Abhilash Kumar (32), an M.Tech who works as an Assistant Manager in a company located in the city’s Sector-49, and arrested, confirmed the Gurugram Police on Monday.
According to the Gurugram Police, soon after the incident was reported on social-media they made repeated efforts to call the victim to the concerned police station to file a formal complaint and record her statement, but failed.
Then, the cops decided to take a suo-moto cognizance of the posts floating around on various social-media platforms. With the help of CCTVs footage and other conventional means and ways, the Gurugram Police identified the accused as a resident of Gurugram Sector-11 who originally hailed from Karnal.
The accused draws an annual salary-package of Rs. 14 lakhs, is married and has a school-going son. “On the fateful day, he was returning home after attending a parent-teacher meeting at his son’s school. He reached Rajeev Chowk, and from there was supposed to go to his rented house in Sector-11, situated very close to Rajeev Chowk,” said a cop while talking to www.thedelhicrown.com .
He added that the victim model had initially refused to cooperate with the Gurugram Police, and wasn’t even ready to visit the local police station.
“But, after a few days of the incident, she visited the Civil Lines Police Station and formally recorded her statement before the police,” said Gurugram Police PRO Sandeep Kumar.
The accused was arrested on Monday, and would be produced before the court on Tuesday.
The incident had hit national media headlines last week, soon after the victim model, named Soni Singh, posted a video of the man on “X” and Instagram. She was heard as saying, “He was circling, and he was constantly staring at me. Initially, I ignored it, but then I noticed his pant was unzipped. He kept staring and started masturbating in front of me. He was very aware of what he was doing. He was making me feel uncomfortable. I felt disgusted,” Soni Singh said in a video posted on social media.
The female model claimed that she had returned from Jaipur by bus, and was waiting at Rajeev Chowk for her cab to reach her home when the incident occurred.
