Panic grips residents after fresh crumbling of structure

Gurugram, Feb. 12 (Delhi Crown): Fear and panic once again gripped the residents of Gurugram Sector-109’s Chintels Paradiso on Saturday even as fresh debris fell on the rescue workers.

After the debris came running down on the rescue workers, the residents feared yet another mishap at their housing society.

Even after two days of the mishap, relief and rescue work is still on at the site to bring out the bodies stuck under the rubble.

Sensing the “weak structure” of the building, a senior official of the NDRF said – “Damage to any of the pillars could lead to the tower collapsing. Hence, work of cutting and removing debris is being done carefully.”

Two women had died in the mishap on Thursday evening. While Ekta Bhardwaj’s dead body was recovered, Sunita Srivastava’s body is still stuck under the rubble even as rescue work has continued for over 48 hours now.

Sunita’s husband A.K. Srivastava, an IRS officer, was critically injured and is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Gurugram.
