Covid norms allegedly violated at Lucknow rally to welcome new entrants

New Delhi, Jan. 14 (Delhi Crown): The Uttar Pradesh Police filed an FIR on as many as 2500 workers of the Samajwadi Party (SP) under the Pandemic Act for flouting Covid norms at a virtual rally-cum-Press Conference organised by the party on Friday.

The FIR was registered at the Gautampalli Police Station.

SP president Akhilesh Yadav too was present at the event, which was organised in Lucknow to welcome new entrants into the party, including erstwhile minister in Yogi government Swami Prasad Maurya, a heavyweight OBC leader.

A large number of leaders, including sitting ministers, MLAs, former ministers, former legislators, joined the SP at the grand event.

The Election Commission of India has already a ban on political rallies or bike rallies, etc till January 15 amid the sudden rise in Covid cases across the country.
