FCC of South Asia tries to file a false police complaint against a senior journalist & elected office bearer
Alert Delhi Police cops say “No Way”
New Delhi, March 16 (Delhi Crown): On the direction of “fake journalist” Munish Gupta, the so-called president of the Delhi-based Foreign Correspondents Club of South Asia, manager Sanjay Massey made an unsuccessful attempt on Wednesday (March 16) to file a false police complaint against a senior journalist who is not only a member of the Club but also an elected office-bearer of the Club’s Governing Body.
Under a “threat” (of losing her job) from Club’s Manager Sanjay Massey, a lady guard named Manju posted at the Club’s gates attempted to file a false police complaint against the senior journalist who is duly accredited with the Government of India’s Press Information Bureau (PIB) for over two decades.
The experienced cops posted at the Tilak Marg Police Station, led by SHO Brijesh Kumar Mishra, could easily make out the ill-conceived police complaint, and declined to entertain it.
The drama happened at the gates of the Club, which is located just next to the official residence of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.
On the request of not disclosing his name, the victimised senior journalist revealed his side the story. He said – “I have been a member of the FCC of South Asia for the past 20 years. Presently, I am the elected office-bearer of the Managing Committee. Today I went to the Club to eat something. But a male guard and a female guard posted at the Club’s gates stopped me from entering the Club, saying I am not allowed to enter the Club. In the meantime, manager Sanjay Massey arrived at the scene and started abusing me, saying I was not allowed entry into the Club.”
The senior journalist, who writes for several foreign media organisations, further said – “On repeatedly asking as to why I was not allowed to enter the Club, I was told that they were all acting on the directions of Munish Gupta.”
He further said – “After failing to convince them all that they were on the wrong side of the law (of the land) while stopping me from gaining entry into the Club, I left from there. Later, I was told that they tried to file a false police complaint against me.”
Meanwhile, a senior cop at the Tilak Marg Police Station told “The Delhi Crown”, “We could easily make out from the complaint that it was a fake one. It appeared to be a politically-motivated, Club-related matter among journalists. We could smell that Club Manager Sanjay Massey had ‘influenced’ the lady guard in filing a bogus complaint against a senior journalist just to settle personal scores.”
It was known that the false police complaint was “dictated” to the lady guard Manju by Advocate Umesh Sharma, who handles legal cases for the FCC of South Asia. According to an employee of the Club, “Advocate Umesh Sharma enjoys free lunches at the Club. Once he also took away around 12 whiskey bottles from the Club without paying for the same. This all is done at the Club as Advocate Umesh Sharma is hands-in-glove with Munish Gupta.”
In a bid to know the other side of the story, “The Delhi Crown” tried contacting the FCC of South Asia, its manager Sanjay Massey and Munish Gupta, but evoked no response.
“Munish Gupta is a fake journalist who somehow managed to grab the post of president, FCC of South Asia. He became a member of the Club hardly 4-5 years falsely portraying himself as a foreign journalist, though he works nowhere. He runs a stupid website PIO-TV which hardly has any subscribers,” said the senior journalist.
According to him, Munish Gupta has had quite a dubious track record. “His real sister Manoranjana Sinh, who was the wife of late Congress leader Matang Sinh, was in jail for nearly a year for her role in the infamous Sarada Scam,” said the senior journalist.
