Dwarka Police to ensure women safety through WhatsApp Groups
1190 members of civil society included in 104 women safety committees
New Delhi, March 14 (Delhi Crown): In a bid to ensure women safety and security round-the-clock, the Dwarka District Police have formulated a new plan. The district police have constituted as many as 104 women committees comprising 1190 women, belonging to the civil society, living across the police district spread over 11 police stations.
These women have been connected with the local District Police through several WhatsApp groups, and are expected to instantly apprise the police about crime against women.
Once a complaint is received by the women safety committees, instant action would be initiated on the part of the police. “These women will act as a police force multiplier, as our eyes and ears in the civil society as far crime against women is concerned,” said a lady cop posted in the Dwarka District.
According to Dwarka DCP Shankar Chaudhary, these 1190 women chosen from among the civil society will raise issues related to women’s overall safety and security from time to time, and will also instantly inform the local police about crime against women 24×7.
“This is an attempt to deliver instant relief to the women in peril,” said another lady police official in the Dwarka Police district.
