New Delhi, Dec. 27 (Delhi Crown): Doctors protesting in Delhi were detained by the police near ITO while were marching towards the Supreme Court in protest against the delay in NEET 2021 counselling.

Among those detained included president of the Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) Dr Manish.

The doctors have been protesting against the delay in counselling of NEET-2021 for PG doctors alleging they are “overburdened” by work.

In a statement issued, FORDA claimed “police brutality” and called it a “Black day in the history of the medical fraternity”.

It condemned the police action and announced that all healthcare institutions would be “completely shutdown” from today.

“Resident Doctors, the so-called “Corona Warriors”, protesting peacefully to expedite NEET PG Counselling 2021 were brutally thrashed, dragged and detained by the police. There will be complete shutdown of all Healthcare Institutions from today onwards!” the statement issued by FORDA said.

The doctors body also demanded the immediate release of all representatives of FORDA and the resident doctors detained by the Delhi Police.

Reacting to the development, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter saying: “Showering flowers (on health workers during Covid wave) was a PR stunt. In reality it is injustice that is pouring. I am with covid warriors against the tyranny of the central government.”
