Delhi’s Dwarka Police nab “Bunty aur Babli” from Jaipur

The husband-wife duo cheated people of Rs 20 crores in past 5 years
New Delhi, March 1 (Delhi Crown): A husband wife duo has been held from Jaipur for allegedly duping many innocents of crores of rupees in the name of getting them railway and other government contracts. They were on the run for the past three years.
Nabbed by the Special Staff of the Dwarka District Police, the duo identified as Abhishek Aggarwal (38) and his wife Meenakshi Aggarwal (34) used to stay in a rented accommodation in Krishana Apartments in Dwarka Sector-15, and used to lead a very lavish lifestyle in a bid to cheat people.
Both are said to be originally hailing from Bihar’s Supaul district.
Many cases of cheating were registered against them at several police stations in Delhi such as Dabri, Dwarka-North, Uttam Nagar, Shalimar Bagh and the Crime Branch of Delhi Police.
According to the police, the duo are also followers of Daati Maharaj, the controversial chief priest of a Shani Mandir in south Delhi.
The arrests were made from Jaipur by a police team under the supervision of Dwarka ACP (Operations) Vijay Singh Yadav and comprising Inspector Naveen Kumar Yadav, Sub-Inspector Jaibeer, Head Constables Anil, Ajay, Sandeep, and Constable Sandeep.
The couple used to live a very lavish life style in posh residential societies in South Delhi, including Dwarka, and boss around with big claims that they have “contacts” in Government of India and could fetch railways and other government contracts for anyone.
People fell prey to their aura and approached them for getting “good contracts”. The couple demanded crores of rupees for favours, and received money even in their bank accounts.
After receiving the money, they used to flee from the locality after switching off their mobile phones. The modus operandi was not unique, but the couple was cleaver enough and did not leave any trace behind them, said the Dwarka Police.
The police team’s efforts yielded results when an information was received that the couple may be staying in Jaipur. The couple was traced in Jaipur, a raid was conducted and both of them apprehended.
During interrogation the couple revealed that they used to rent flats in high-end societies and then create an aura around them through their lavish lifestyle, high end cars, gadgets, tall claims etc. They used to target big businessmen or property dealers and impress them through their unique ways.
They had cheated several persons for approx. 20 crore Rupees so far on the pretext of getting them Railways and other Govt. tenders during the past five years.
