Delhi’s AIIMS resumes routine hospitalisation as Covid cases fall

New Delhi, Feb. 4 (Delhi Crown): Routine hospitalisationand elective surgeries will resume with immediate effect at Delhi-based All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), said Medical Superintendent Dr D.K. Sharma on Friday.

The decision has been taken in view of the “decreased need of hospitalisation of Covid-19 positive patients”, and also considering the relaxation of curbs imposed in the wake of third wave of Covid pandemic.

“It has been decided that routine inpatient admissions, including elective surgeries in general wards as well as private wards in AIIMS Hospital and all centres be resumed with immediate effect on restricted basis as per availability of staff, inpatient beds and Operation Theatres services,” said Dr Sharma.

The announcement came after the DDMA meet, held earlier in the day, decided to ease Covid restrictions as daily Covid cases consistently declined in the city over the past few days.

On Thursday Delhi had recorded 2,668 cases with a Positivity Rate of 4.3 percent, the lowest since the year began. The Capital City had crossed the peak of a milder wave of infections over three weeks back, when new cases per day crossed the 10,000-mark.
