Delhi AIIMS' Dr Ranjan Gupta conferred top Rheumatologist Award

Dr Ranjan Gupta is the Associate Professor at Rheumatology Department

New Delhi, Dec. 4 (Delhi Crown): A top doctor at Delhi-based AIIMS Dr Ranjan Gupta has been conferred the prestigious “Young Rheumatologist Oration of the Indian Rheumatologist Association Award” for the year 2021.

Dr Gupta is the Associate Professor at AIIMS’ Rheumatology Department.

He delivered the oration in the virtual inauguration ceremony held in Kolkata on Saturday. This oration is awarded every year to a rheumatologist aged less than 40 years who has contributed significantly to the field of rheumatology through his research work.

Dr Gupta was conferred the oration for his research work on “Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE)” and “Lupus Nephritis”.

Dr Gupta has been working on finding newer urinary biomarkers of Lupus Nephritis and has published almost 30 national and international papers.

Earlier, he was awarded the prestigious “Shakuntala Amirchand Prize” of the ICMR for the year 2018 in recognition of his research work.

SLE is an autoimmune disease in which almost 70% patients can develop the involvement of kidneys which is called Lupus Nephritis.

His research work is related to finding newer biochemical molecules which can diagnose Lupus Nephritis earlier, and may also help in monitoring of treatment response.

In his oratory speech, he spoke about all the research work he has done so far and what he plans to do further.
