Delhi Police issue traffic advisory for evening hours as Ramlilas begin

Huge crowds expected after two years of Covid-19

New Delhi, Sept. 26 (Delhi Crown): Expecting huge crowds for Ramlilas to be organised ahead of this year’s Dussehra, the Delhi Police on Monday issued a traffic advisory for Delhiites advising them to avoid certain routes from Sept. 26 till Oct. 5, particularly from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Compared to the past two years, huge crowds are expected for Ramlilas ahead of Dussehra this year in the aftermath of Covid-19 restrictions over past the two occasions.

The areas where these routes have been identified by the Delhi Police for heavy crowds include Lajpat Rai Market, Lal Qila, Ramlila Maidan, Dakshinpuri, Ambedkar Nagar, Sarojini Nagar, Greater Kailash, South Avenue, Delhi Cantt, Dwarka, Punjabi Bagh, Kirti Nagar, Hari Nagar, Vikas Puri, Naraina, Sultanpuri, Pitampura, Mahindra Park Chowk, Keshavpuram, Model Town, Adarsh Nagar, Bhalswa Dairy, Jahangirpuri, Shalimar Bagh, Maurya Enclave, Narela, Madhu Vihar, Seelampur, Anand Vihar, Gandhi Nagar and Farsh Bazar.

“In addition to the above main venues, small Ramlilas may also be organized by local residents, Resident Welfare Associations, Market Welfare Associations etc. in various colonies, market areas and open grounds. Some Ramlila committees may also take out processions in their localities,” said the Delhi Police’s traffic advisory.

It further stated that traffic movement may be affected at and around the above-mentioned venues where Ramlila will be staged in Delhi due to the huge public gathering/devotee/spectators.
