New Delhi, April 1 (Delhi Crown): The Delhi High Court on Friday directed the Delhi Police to submit its response over the incident of violent protests and vandalism at Delhi CM’s residence two days ago.

The HC also directed the Delhi Police to preserve CCTV footage of the incident.

At least eight persons were arrested yesterday in connection with the vandalism case.

According to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders, BJP workers led by Youth Wing president and Lok Sabha MP Tejasvi Surya had indulged in vandalism outside CM Arvind Kejriwal’s residence on March 30.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia alleged that it was a conspiracy to kill Kejriwal even as the Delhi Police cops remained there as mute spectators.

A photo later appeared on social media showing Surya shaking hands with a Inspector-rank Delhi Police cop.

“The Delhi Police cops took the hooligans belonging to the Delhi unit of the BJP up till the gates of the official residence of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a bid to kill him (Kejriwal),” an angry-looking Sisodia had told media persons.

He had further alleged – “The Boom barriers installed at the gates of Delhi CM’s residence was smashed and CCTVs were broken. It was a clear conspiracy to kill Delhi CM Kejriwal. And the Delhi Police cops present there are squarely to be blamed. How could the hooligans reach so close to a CM’s residence.”

He added that the BJP was “completely rattled and frustrated” after the recent defeat it suffered at the hands of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab.

“We are filing a criminal complaint, as this is not a political case,” Sisodia had told media persons.
