Ban was imposed to combat air pollution in Delhi
New Delhi, Dec. 17 (Delhi Crown): The Delhi Government on Friday imposed a fine of Rs 1 crore on a construction firm for allegedly violating Supreme Court’s air pollution norms.
Imposing the fine, Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai ordered the sealing of the construction site for allegedly violating the Supreme Court’s pollution norms.
Rai on Friday ordered the site’s sealing of the NBCC India construction site for operating in the night, and violating the Supreme Court’s pollution norms. The minister has also ordered the imposition of Rs 1 crore fine for violating pollution norms.
The minister had visited the construction site earlier this month too and warned against carrying out any construction activity till the ban is imposed.
A media organisation had released an investigation report that captured videos and images of open violation of norms set by the Supreme Court to curb pollution.
Earlier in the day, Gopal Rai called an emergency meeting of top officials over the alleged violation of the Supreme Court’s pollution norms. The meeting was attended by officials from the Delhi Traffic Police department, Environment Department, Transport Department, Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) and NBCC India.
