IRCTC to facilitate the Yatra

New Delhi, Nov.7 (Delhi Crown): Delhi’s citizens, especially senior citizens, can rejoice as tourism by train is likely to get a much-needed boost with the Central Government-run Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) beginning a series of “Shri Ramayana Yatra” tours from Sunday (Nov.7).

The Yatra tour is part of the IRCTC’s plans to promote religious tourism and also to resume domestic tourism by trains in view of the improving post-Covid situation in the country.

“IRCTC has planned the train tour packages utilising its pilgrim special tourist trains and deluxe tourist trains duly understanding the requirement of the budget and premium segment tourists,” it said in a statement.

“The first departure on the Ramayana Circuit train will commence on November 7 from New Delhi followed by four other departures in the subsequent month,” the IRCTC added.

Other packages include 12 nights/13 days Shri Ramayana Yatra Express-Madurai, which will depart from Delhi on November 16.

The return train will start from Madurai with boarding points at Dindigul, Tiruchchirappalli, Karur, Erode, Salem, Jolarpettai, Katpadi, Chennai Central, Renigunta, and Cuddapah. It will cover Hampi, Nasik, Chitrakoot, Allahabad and Varanasi and will return to Madurai.

The IRCTC said there is also the 16 nights/17-day package called the Shri Ramayana Yatra Express-Sri Ganganagar. That train will depart on November 25 from Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan and will pass through Abohar, Malout, Bhatinda, Barnala, Patiala, Rajpura, Ambala Cantt., Kurukshethra, Karnal, Panipat, Delhi Cantt, Gurgaon, Rewari, Alwar, Jaipur, Agra Fort, Itawah and Kanpur.

This train will cover Ayodhya, Sitamarhi, Janakpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, Nasik, Hampi, Rameswaram and Kanchipuram, and will return to Sri Ganganagar.
