Covid positivity rate 5%, cases rising but hospitalisation very low: Delhi CM

New Delhi, April 27 (Delhi Crown): The number of fresh Covid-19 cases per day in Delhi have risen to over 1000, even as the figure had fallen to below-100 level till a few days ago, and the Positivity Rate too has risen to around 5%, said Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday.

He said that though the number of new cases per day has risen sharply in Delhi over the past two weeks, the need for hospitalisation is quite low as there are only 80 patients admitted in normal Covid wards and only 20 in ICUs.

“But we are well prepared in terms of hospital beds. We have over 10,000 normal Covid-dedicated beds and nearly 2200 ICU beds to deal with the further rise in number of pandemic cases,” he told PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and other chief ministers present at the virtual meet.

The Delhi CM also stated that keeping in mind the sudden surge in the number of cases, wearing of face-masks has been once again made mandatory and a monetary fine of Rs 500 to be imposed on individuals for flouting the rule.
