Corruption dossier against Delhi Election Commissioner lying before PMO, claims AAP’s Atishi Marlena
Says BJP threatened Election Commissioner S.K. Srivastava to put him in jail
New Delhi, March 22 (Delhi Crown): Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi Marlena on Tuesday dropped a bombshell, saying a “corruption-related dossier against Delhi’s Election Commissioner S.K. Srivastava has been lying at the Prime Minister Office (PMO) for past several months”.
And, she added, that the BJP-led Central Government had “threatened Srivastava to put him in jail on the basis of the corruption charges mentioned in that dossier, and thus coerced him to delay MCD polls”.
Atishi said that by playing the delaying tactics the BJP was almost murdering the democracy in the country, just like Late PM Indira Gandhi had done by postponing the General Election by imposing Emergency in the country.
“New MCDs are to be constituted by May 18, and the Delhi Election Commission must conduct the local bodies polls before that to save democracy in the country,” she added.
Atishi was reacting to a related development earlier in the day wherein the Union Cabinet cleared a proposal to unify the three MCDs into one. Now, a Bill has to be introduced and passed in both the Houses of the Parliament before it turns into a law after President puts his seal.
“We won’t comment on the proposed Bill that will be brought up before the Parliament because we don’t know its contents yet,” said Atishi Marlena.
She further alleged that the BJP was playing delaying tactics regarding the MCD polls as it very well knows that “Modi ji can’t face AAP and Kejriwal ji in Delhi in the ensuing polls.
“The BJP realised it’s going to lose local body polls in Delhi soon after Punjab’s Exit Polls were out, and on March 9 they wrote a letter to Delhi Election Commissioner directing him not to announce the polls schedule,” claimed the AAP leader.
She further stated – “Delhiites have made up their mind to throw out the BJP in MCD this time as they are fed up by with misrule and misgovernance of the BJP in the past 15 years since BJP has been in power in the three local bodies.”
