Two similar cases come to light within 24 hours

New Delhi, April 25 (Delhi Crown): Two similar cases have come to light within 24 hours wherein cops from different states took the aerial route to reach their respective destinations for collecting their bribe amounts from their “targets”.

While the CBI nabbed a Delhi Police constable who flew down to Bhubaneshwar to collect Rs 2 lakhs, in a similar case an Inspector posted with the Gujarat Police was arrested on Monday from Gurugram by the Haryana State Vigilance Board minutes after he had collected the “booty”.

Incidentally the amount collected at the time of their arrests was similar, i.e. Rs 2 lakhs.

Accused Inspector/SHO Jagdish posted at Rajpipla Police Station in Narmada district of Gujrat was caught red-handed by Haryana State Vigilance Board personnel minutes after he had collected Rs 2 lakhs bribe from one Sandeep Puri S/o Ramakant Puri R/o G-3/1, DLF Phase-1, Gurugram.

According to a source in Gurugram Police, the accused was in touch with the Puri family after he had arrested Sandeep Puri’s Uncle Amrinder Puri S/o Ashok Puri R/o Shastri Colony, Amar Nagar, Faridabad on Feb. 24 in a case handled by him under Information Technology Act (IT Act).

Subsequent to Amrinder Puri’s arrest, the accused (Inspector Jagdish) had assured the complainant that he will not implicate his nephew Sandeep Puri in another case, and also not give any supplementary chargesheet against accused Amrinder Puri if the complainant gives total Rs. 3 lakhs as a bribe to him.

“Complainant Sandeep Puri already handed over Rs one lakh bribe money to accused Inspector Jagdish on April 12 at Rajpipla (Gujrat). Today accused Inspector Jagdish came to Gurugram by air to receive rest of Rs 2 lakhs bribe money from complainant and while receiving the bribe money caught red handed,” said a Gurugram Police source.

In exactly a similar case a day ago, a Delhi Police constable identified as Amit Lahucha was nabbed by the CBI sleuths in Bhubaneshwar where he gone by air to collect Rs 2 lakhs bribe money on the direction of one Inspector Sajjan Singh posted with the Economic Offences Wing (EOW).

Later, the Delhi Police Inspector was too nabbed after the cop spilled the beans.

Delhi Police’s constable Amit Lahucha was nabbed red-handed in Bhubaneshwar as soon as he accepted the Rs 2 lakhs bribe, said CBI spokesman R.C. Joshi in New Delhi.
