Says Centre didn’t give financial aid to Delhi’s urban bodies @ Rs 488/person/yr.
New Delhi, April 5 (Delhi Crown): The BJP-led Central Government had been meting out a step-motherly treatment all these years to the BJP-led three MCDs in the national capital, as the former did not provide the financial aid at the rate of Rs 488 per person per year to these three urban local bodies which it was supposed to provide as per the 14th Finance Commission’s recommendations, alleged AAP’s senior leader and legislator Atishi Marlena on Tuesday.
She said that the Kejriwal-led Delhi Government had extended loans to these MCDs since 2015, which the latter had not returned till date.
According to her, the Kejriwal government provided loans to the three MCDs as due to rampant corruption in these BJP-ruled local bodies they couldn’t run them with the self-generated revenues.
Addressing media persons, Atishi said that all the three MCDs owed thousands of crores of Rupees to the Kejriwal Government.
“The loans provided by the Delhi Government to the three MCDs haven’t been returned yet. The North Delhi Municipal Corporation owes Rs 3600 crores to the Delhi govt. while the East Delhi Municipal Corporation owes Rs 1940 crores, and the South Delhi Municipal Corporation owes Rs 1322 crores,” she told media persons.
She further added that the top leadership of the BJP, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, has been falsely claiming that the Kejriwal government was showing step-motherly treatment to the three local bodies in Delhi.
“Actually, it is the BJP-led Central Government which has been meting out step-motherly treatment to the BJP-led MCDs in national capital all these years,” added the AAP spokesperson.
